Monitor Event Viewer Logs using MMC console

Event viewer logs plays a vital role in tests results analysis and gives us root cause of some critical events occurred on the servers.
The Event Log Service records application, security, and system events in Event Viewer. With the event logs in Event Viewer, you can obtain information about your hardware, software, and system components, and monitor security events on a local or remote computer.
If we have more than 5 servers where we have to look into Event logs then it’s bit hectic to logging into each server remotely and fetching event logs,
Here I am demonstrating how we can monitor Event viewer logs remotely on n number of servers using Microsoft Management Console (MMC)

  • Type MMC in Run and MMC console root will be opened

  •         Go to File--> Add/Remove Snap In

  •       Click on Add, Add Standalone Snap-In window will be opened

  •       Select Event Viewer and click on ADD

  •       Select Computer, Local or Another computer (Give Computer name or IP address)

  •       Click on Finish and OK, console with all the added server will be opened and now Events can be monitored for that server.

  • This console can be saved for future tests monitoring
Note:  You must be logged on as Administrator or as a member of the Administrators group in order to turn on, use, and specify which events are recorded in the security log.
